Who moved my cheese?

Heather, great presentation!

I think the book “Who Moved my Cheese” is such a great representation of what we all go through each day of our lives. Sometimes our cheese is big and when it’s moved if affects us very deeply. But, more often, our cheese is small, we respond and move forward.

I have always been the type of person who looks at change as a challenge. Challenges are good for us. They make us look at things differently. In order to move forward and find new cheese they require us step outside of the box. If we let the fear of the unknown take us over, we will surely fail. If we face the unknown head on, we find out what we are truly capable of. As we make our way through the maze looking for our new cheese, we realize that sometimes we hit a dead end or wall, and have to go back.

I think we are lucky to have the opportunity to go back when we hit the wall. For me, it tests my desire to find the cheese. How bad do I want it? Am I content with how things are and therefore should just stopping looking? Or, along the road did I discover that my goal has changed and I want to take a new path through the maze? Whatever happens in the search is acceptable, as long as I am happy, passionate and engaged in what I’m doing.

My motto has been, “nothing is forever.” This is not to say that I am a pessimist, but rather: “get out there and experience all that I can”. Don’t feel locked up and become complacent. If your cheese has been moved accept the challenge. If you’re hungry enough, you’ll get out in the maze and find all that you can!
